One of my favorite projects from Illustration class so far, because it didn't take long, but it looks good. The teacher handed out articles and we had to make an illustration for them. My article was about a person with memory issues who speculated that if scientists could give a fly photographic memory, maybe she could eat the fly and have perfect memory as well.

My first try at a fully shaded picture using grey-scale pens. I did it pretty fast, so it's not perfect. I think I'll stick to either paints or pencil for portraits like this, because you can rush with those mediums and they'll still look united. I don't like how pens look when the strokes go in every direction, but they'll work nicely for smaller pieces.

Michael Oh said this is a speech. The way he said it was so powerful, I had to make it into a typography! That's why I like typography so much—you can capture the rhythms of speech, even more than in a poem. The text is hand drawn—not a font—and it was a lot easier than I remember from my last project involving type. I also have more really cool typography that I made today, this is just the first one I got around to finishing.

Bearman and Catgirl

Two more of my commissions. I am really not a fan of anthro, but these were still a fun learning experience. In the future I'll probably have a no anthro rule.
Also it's not the most considerate thing when you request an artist to make a bearman when all they've drawn before is humans in realism. Catgirl is different because tails and whatnot aren't hard to add, but I had a tough time with Bearman.
I love how the background came out in this. I'm totally going to use this setting for a later time. I'm glad that the recent The Silver Eye pages have featured woods and trees in the background. It's prepared me a lot for these commissions. Apparently forests are quite popular to have as backgrounds.

This is Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson. If you haven't yet, you should go read the books. Because they are made of awesome mythological win.

Original line art: [link] also by burdge-bug This time I didn't redraw all the line art, because it was pretty clean on its own. I was super happy about how this was coming out, and then I got to their eyes and I was like, "Awww!" *Instant sads.* They're so sweet.

I also got to color an invisible cloak, you guys. It was interesting. Not many people realize this, but I actually have invisible cloaks in all of my drawings.

Here is another sculpture from the Chrysler Museum of Art, however this one is interactive. You enter the gallery, and it is sitting in a corner all lonely-like, just making spinning designs:

Then you walk in front of it and—tada! It shows you!
There were four other works like this in the gallery that also used cameras and technology to make the viewer a part of the art. Normally I'm not a fan of modern art, but these were extremely fun and entertaining. I thought this one was was very beautiful, too.I love photographing sculptures. :D

Yeah... I don't remember what the title of this sculpture is. But anyhow, this is from the Chrystler Museum, Norfolk, VA. Drawing fabric like this is just so very hard, and then someone goes and makes it out of a rock... I guess that's why it gets to be in a museum and I don't. Floating ghost person also ads a nice touch.

This building was under construction when we went on our Germany trip, so we didn't get to see it until the end of the Italy trip when we were trying to get home. This lobby was so shiny, I had to have a picture of it. There was no photography allowed, so I sketched this out while waiting for the peoples.

Navarre was a gorgeous beach near where we lived in Milton, FL. Its sand was so soft it was like flower, so clean that it would squeak under your feet, and so white it was blinding like the sun. I've lived a lot of places, but nowhere makes me more homesick than when I remember Navarre.

Went for a walk around the neighborhood to practice with it and was kidnapped by Gardening Neighbor who invited us into his back yard to see his awesome garden. Most of my pictures came our blurry because of the light and I don't know what I'm doing.

So for the Goodbye to Gulfport Project I was going to draw a ton of portraits of people from Gulfport... and then I only ended up drawing three because other stuff got in the way. BUT ironically the three people I drew are the three people whom I am graduating high school with, so this turned out quite nicely. Anyway, I wasn't satisfied with the drawing I did of Delaney, so I made another!
